First, complete the reading track bookmark in order to keep track of the pages that will be assigned each class period. We will be reading this book in 5 class periods, so it is important that you keep up with your reading, especially if you miss any classes.
Read pages 3-20 of The Sunflower. Part of the reading is out loud as a class, and the rest is independent reading.
Discuss:
What is your first impression of the speaker? Can you relate to his situation? What do you know about the history of where he is and what is happening around him?
EVERY ENTRY should have the book's TITLE, the DATE of the entry, the LOT # you are addressing, a QUOTE from the text, and your own COMMENTARY making that LOT connection.
